Penny Johnson

I’m Penny Johnson, Director and HR Manager at Johnsons Group, where I support the business in building strong teams, effective communication, and a positive culture. Before joining the company, I spent nearly 30 years leading change in the education sector, developing people, driving improvement, and supporting communities across North Yorkshire and County Durham.

Nine years ago, I made the decision to join my son in growing his construction business, bringing my leadership experience into a completely new industry. It’s been an exciting journey, and I’m proud to have helped strengthen the company from the inside out—shaping our people practices, supporting our marketing efforts, and building the foundations for sustainable growth.

Alongside my role at Johnsons Group, I’ve been married to Ray Johnson since 1992, who is also a Director in the business. Outside of work, I enjoy running, staying active, and spending quiet moments painting with watercolours.

I’m passionate about people, progress, and helping Johnsons Group continue to grow as a trusted, family‑run construction company.
